A sustainable home with Inalco

Have you ever thought that you would like to make your home more sustainable? Living in a home where sustainability is a goal is not only good for the planet, it also makes for a better environment in any home.

Here we’d like to give you a few tips on how to make your home more sustainable and environmentally-friendly. Some of the changes are quick and easy to make, whilst others require some short and mid-term planning, but they will all bring major benefits for you and the environment.

It has to be said that one of the greatest contributions to the sustainability of a home starts with the choice of materials for the design and construction. If you’re planning on building or renovating your home, always go for sustainable and eco-friendly materials.

In this sense, MDi surfaces are designed and manufactured under strict environmental policies (100% water recycling, use of water-based inks and glazes, etc.). Ecoinalco is our public commitment to the environmentand society. It involves all the human and technological resources intended to prevent activity impact, as well as the ongoing review of processes to ensure sustainable development.

What’s more, MDi surfaces are extremely versatile and can be used as wall and floor coverings, kitchen and bathroom countertops, shower trays or furniture cladding, etc.

Other sustainable solutions include the installation of solar panels and the use of renewable energies as the principal source of electricity. You can also study how to make better use of the natural light, installing large windows and ensuring optimum orientation and light for the kitchen and living room.

Reducing, reusing and recycling should always be high on your list of priorities: reduce your consumption of water and electricity; reuse items like bags and jars; and recycle as much as you can. For instance, here at Inalco we reuse between 35-45% of recycled raw materials and our products are 100% recyclable, to name just a few of the measures we have introduced.

Which of these ideas have you applied to your home? Let us know in the comments section!
