What is IPLUS digital printing technology?

This is the digital printing system and international pioneering new innovation launched by Inalco in 2005. By using CMYK inks, a high definition is achieved, with far more natural-looking designs printed right across the whole surface, including the top and bottom of relief textures.

Digital IPLUS technology is used for all MDi collections by Inalco.

What is H2O Full Digital technology?

Inalco was a world pioneer in introducing H2O Full Digital technology. This ground-breaking technology, which uses water-based inks, can be used to print collections with an amazing definition. What is more, they are eco-friendly and environmentally and socially sustainable. With this technology, in addition to many other benefits, up to 70% savings have been achieved on the water consumed during the production process.

Can Inalco products be used in raised-access floor systems?

Inalco’s Raised Floor System for Interiors and Exteriors is made up of panels of a conventional thickness, which rest on pedestals of adjustable heights to make the floor easy to level. The whole system can be easily assembled with no building work. Inalco raised-access floor panels are reinforced on the underside to give them a high mechanical resistance to heavy loads and impacts, thus avoiding the need for the heavy materials commonly used in such floor systems, like calcium sulphate or chipboard panels or bonded double tiles. Thanks to their variety of formats, a model can be found to fit in with the technical and aesthetic needs of all projects. For further information, see the Raised-Access Floors section or Technical Videos on our website.

CUTTING AND LAYING
How are products by Inalco laid?

To guarantee a long life for Inalco wall and floor coverings, certain basic guidelines must always be followed when they are laid, both in the case of products.

For further information, see the Technical Guides and Technical Videos sections.

How should products by Inalco be cut?

Cutting MDi slabs by Inalco is easy if professional tools are used, like cutting guides and radial tile cutters. When they are cut, a series of simple cutting guidelines should be followed.

For further information, see the Cutting Guide for products by Inalco.

How can I make holes in MDi by Inalco?

Holes and cut-outs can easily be made in MDi by Inalco for the covers of inspection boxes, light fixtures, pipe connections or for any other purpose.

Follow the instructions in the Cutting Guide.

Must a joint be left between MDi slabs by Inalco?

This is a gap that is left between all adjoining slabs to help absorb any expansion or contraction in the substrate due to temperature changes or minor structural movements. It is important to remember that the substrate must be stable, clean and level.

The slabs should always be laid with a joint of at least 2 mm between them. Preferably spacers and tile-levelling wedges should be used to make sure that the slabs are properly aligned and that the width of the joints is always the same.

Must the joints between MDi slabs by Inalco be grouted?

The joints must always be grouted, both for aesthetic reasons and to avoid problems like damp or fungus.

The grouting material should be of a similar colour to the slabs and suitable for the place where they are laid (indoors, outdoors, wet areas etc.).

A wide variety of grouting materials are available (waterproof, deformable, anti-acid etc.). The product manufacturer will specify the waiting time between the slabs being laid and beginning the grouting process.

The correct waiting times must always be observed and any surplus adhesive or grout residues must be removed.

Important: To grout polished slabs, coloured grout containing lampblack must never be used because the micronized carbon that it contains will penetrate the surface pores of polished materials and be very hard to remove.

LEANING & CARE
How should MDi by Inalco cleaned?

After the slabs are laid, the surface must be properly cleaned to remove any residues from the installation and grouting processes. A slightly acidic detergent should be used, such as Deterdek by Fila or AKEMI Acid Cleaner, which does not release any toxic vapours or damage the slabs, joints or surrounding areas.

If the slabs have been laid as flooring and work is still being done in the area, the surface must be protected with cardboard to avoid direct contact with the remains of building materials, tools, machinery etc.

For everyday cleaning, a dust mop or dry cloth can be used. Do not use products containing wax or polish.

For further information, see the Cleaning Guide.

Does MDi by Inalco need any special care once laid?

MDi does not require any special care once laid. Due to its composition and firing temperature, it is almost impervious.

Once it has been laid, any cement or grout residues must be removed, using specific products for this purpose.

See the Cleaning Guide.
