A homely kitchen in an industrial setting

There is more to the interior design of a gastrospace than just aesthetic concerns. An ambience must be created that encapsulates the essence of its cuisine and the related culinary experience. This was the challenge faced by the Real Space Agency when it designed a unique demo kitchen for a leading international business group from the food industry. In this project, the Iseo collection by Inalco plays a star role, infusing it with all the beauty of natural materials.

The kitchen, set in industrial surroundings, is conceived to act as a warm, welcoming meeting point, perfect for live cooking demonstrations. There was one clear objective to the design project: to transform an industrial space into an inspirational backdrop, where culinary ingredients, gastronomy and design all converge in glorious harmony.

To achieve this balance, superior-quality materials and natural textures were used. With its characteristic bush-hammered finish, Iseo by Inalco infuses the kitchen with all the solidity and personality of natural stone. The collection not only dresses up surfaces, but it also guarantees the outstanding resistance that is needed for a professional cooking space.

Although the demo kitchen is set in a mainly industrial backdrop, it still manages to have a homely atmosphere. This was achieved by combining warm materials, such as walnut for the furniture, with Iseo’s stone texture on the walls and floor. The continuity of the materials and their integration with the lighting create a cosy, wrap-around feel, inspiring creativity and interaction.

By using glass in the design of this space, it opens up onto the adjoining rooms, boosting visual links with the surrounding areas. The black steelwork, bronze finishes, and metallic mesh add an industrial touch, while the strategically located LED lights are used to create more secluded spots and to enhance the materials.

The epicentre of the kitchen is a versatile space where every single detail is conceived to raise culinary experiences to new heights. Thanks to a grid system, suspended from the ceiling, the lighting can be used to highlight certain features, giving the whole ensemble an engaging feel. A coffee area, in dark colours with hints of metal, adds an exclusive touch of comfort.

Iseo was not only chosen for aesthetic reasons, but also for functional purposes. Thanks to the digital technology used to manufacture it, this is an easy-to-clean, naturally engineered surface with a high resistance to heavy use and a strong timeless appeal. In this design project, Iseo is the perfect backcloth, seamlessly uniting gastronomy with design.

The project shows how an industrial space can be transformed into an inspiring, cosy backdrop thanks to innovations in materials. With its stone appearance and bush-hammered texture, the Iseo collection plays a star role here, uniting warmth with industrial appeal.

In this demo kitchen, every single texture, finish and choice of material helps build a multisensory experience. By combining tradition with technology, an immersive experience in culinary creativity has been created for chefs and visitors on a par with some of the world’s top gastronomic events.
