Ariston Café: a restaurant where time stands still

We may be the most interconnected society in history, but we are also one of the most pressurized. The pace of life is simply overwhelming, and sometimes it is hard to just stop. That is exactly what this project by Imma Digregorio aspires to help you do: to stop the clock, give yourself a rest, however short it might be, and feed your body and soul.
To meet the above goal, this café and ice cream parlour is divided into two sections, demarcated by two collections by Inalco: Iseo and Storm. The Iseo collection, used as flooring and to clad the counter, welcomes customers when they enter, inviting them to choose their favourite flavour of ice cream. The Storm collection, in black, takes pride of place in the seating area, where, in combination with other materials and the carefully designed lighting, it encourages customers to wind down or, in the words of the architect, to “bring time to a temporary halt here”.
Digregorio combined the Storm collection with wood, glass, carefully chosen subtle lighting and plants to give the impression of being in a small indoor and outdoor courtyard, perfect for winding down and getting away from it all “because a pause, even if it’s just for a coffee, ice cream or something else, gives us a breather from the hustle and bustle of life so that we can enjoy a moment of peace.”
