Casa L5 is a villa in Alicante in an unparalleled location looking out over the Mediterranean Sea. Designed to act as a home and a vantage point, it stands out for its fluid interplay with the surrounding landscape, in which the sea’s horizon plays a starring role.
So important is this link with the home’s exteriors that every single area of the home is filled with natural light, smoothly connecting its indoor and outdoor spaces. In turn, the infinity pool visually prolongs the landscape, reinforcing the continuity between the architecture and the natural surroundings. Inside, the double height entrance hall adds a vertical dimension to the home’s design, generating a spacious, restful, fluid feel in combination with the natural light there.
In this modern approach to Mediterranean living, materials play a fundamental role in the villa’s architecture. MDi surfaces act as a linking thread throughout the home, enhancing its indoor living spaces and continuing outside so as to reinforce the connections between the villa and its surroundings.
The MDi Petra collection has been used as flooring, seamlessly transitioning from indoors to out. It has also been used on the bathroom walls to ensure chromatic continuity and a harmonious, coherent overall appearance.
The MDi Vint collection plays a predominant role in two unique features of the project: the fireplace and the outdoor kitchen. Its use in both places demonstrates the versatility of this surface, bringing character and personality to two areas of the home that form part of new approaches to home living.
Each MDi surface has been chosen to ensure beauty, harmony and timeless appeal. In a project in which the home’s interiors and exteriors merge into one, our MDi surfaces take materials to a new level, making them part of the project’s architectural language and contributing to interplay between the home and the landscape.
Designed by Pasqual Giner and Auñón Cabrera, Casa L5 is a fusion of architecture, nature and materials in a bid to achieve global coherence, integrating the home into the background setting without dominating it in any way.
This is a space where ideas, materials and the surrounding landscape have all been united in one single language, using our MDi surfaces to contribute to architecture that is conceived to be lived in and truly enjoyed in a setting overlooking the Mediterranean Sea.
